Clark CPR Program is a program that is sponsored by Clark Township Volunteer Ambulance Corp and MiResCu (Michigan Resuscitation Consortium). The program is designed for the Les Cheneaux Islands/Clark Township area to teach community awareness and education about cardiac arrest. Our main goal is to increase the survival rates of those individuals that go into cardiac arrest. 70% of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests happen in homes, which means you will most likely be trying to save the life of somebody you love: a child, a spouse, a parent or a friend. Unfortunately, only 46% of people who experience an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest get the immediate help that they need before professional help arrives.

Clark CPR Programs is a program that was developed after we were awarded a grant through MiResCu (Michigan Resuscitation Consortium), in the spring of 2016. This grant provided us with 7 AEDs (Automated External Defibrillator) that we could place out in the community. MiResCu communities are committed to adopting the system wide approach that has been modeled after Seattle King County and promoted by the Resuscitation Academy. Seattle King County has a 57% survival rate for their cardiac arrests.

This system wide approach includes:

-
High-Performance CPR Training for Both Trainers and Providers
-
AED Placement
-
Police Defibrillation
-
Dispatch Assisted HP-CPR
-
Community Awareness and Education
-
Law Enforcement HP-CPR Dispatch Assisted

Each year, over 350,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occur in the United States. When a person goes into cardiac arrest, survival depends on immediately getting CPR from somebody nearby.

-
According to the American Heart Association, 90% of people who suffer out-of-hospital arrest die.
-
CPR, especially if performed immediately can DOUBLE or TRIPLE a cardiac arrest victim's chance of survival

We are more than willing to go into our surrounding communities to teach these programs, as the whole eastern end of the Upper Peninsula is one big family!
